Amman and environment

Amman, the capital of Jordan, is a unique blend of old and new. Eastern Amman is the more conservative part of the city, home to the poor and the Palestinian refugee camps. In Western Amman you can find trendy cafes and bars, modern shopping malls and high class residential areas.
Important sights in Amman are the Roman Theatre, The Citadel and the National Archeological Museum.
The King Abdallah Mosque is the only mosque which welcomes (non-) Muslim visitors. The King Hussein Park is a newly built park and a nice place to relax and looking over the city.
A bit south of Amman you can visit Kan Zaman, a nice place with an authentic Arabic atmosphere and original handicrafts. The restaurant here serves excellent Jordanian meals.

Salt, the former capital of Jordan, is a friendly old town and a must see for photographers. It has beautiful old houses and you can enjoy strolling through the picturesque streets.
